VERIFY^® Bowie Dick Indicator Strips

The VERIFY Bowie-Dick Indicator Strips combine the interpretation ease of a moving front chemical indicator with a rigorous Air Removal Test System to simplify the Daily Air Removal Testing. The VERIFY Bowie Dick Indicator Strips are for exclusive use with the VERIFY^® All-In-One STEAM Reusable Test Pack.

How VERIFY Bowie-Dick Indicator Strips Work

The indicator strip is placed within the VERIFY All-In-One STEAM Reusable Test Pack. When exposed to air removal test cycle, air is removed from the test pack and steam penetrates the chamber. The steam penetrates the polypropylene cover of the indicator strip contacting the steam sensitive chemistry within. Exposure to steam lowers the melting point of the specially formulated chemistry and as the chemistry melts, it soaks into the wicking paper and runs up the strip, turning it dark. The rate at which the line moves has been specifically designed to mimic the performance of an ANSI/AAMI ST79 Bowie and Dick Test Pack.

The integrating indicator confirms the sterilizer effectively removed air from the test pack when the dark line has traveled the length of the strip. Once the dark bar has traveled the length of the strip, the air removal efficacy of the steam sterilizer has been confirmed.
