Product Overview
The Celerity™ 20 STEAM Biological Indicator (BI) for IUSS is a fast-read 20-minute BI used for monitoring and qualification testing of commonly used gravity immediate use steam sterilization (IUSS) cycles.
Per AAMI ST79:2017, BIs within process challenge devices (PCDs) should be used at least weekly, preferably every day the sterilizer is used. This standard also applies to monitoring Gravity IUSS Cycles. Sterility assurance monitoring requires the use of products that are specifically validated for use in gravity IUSS cycles. How the Celerity™ 20 STEAM BI for IUSS Works
After a gravity IUSS steam sterilization cycle (previously referred to as flash sterilization), the color-changing process indicator on the vial cap will provide immediate proof of exposure in the autoclave. The glass-free BI, containing Geobacillus stearothermophilus spores, is then activated using a twist and flick motion, eliminating the need for a second activator. The activated BI is then incubated using the universal Celerity™ Incubator or Celerity™ STEAM Incubator for just 20 minutes.
