During GI bleed management procedures, the SMARTBAND Multi-Band Ligation System is used for banding esophageal varices, including bleeding esophageal varices, at or above the gastroesophageal junction and to ligate internal hemorrhoids.
This SMARTBAND Multi-Band Ligation System offers a complete endoscopic ligation kit and a reloading pack for cases requiring extra bands. Two types of kits and packs are available: ligation bands manufactured with natural rubber latex and not with natural rubber latex. All options offer a 24-month shelf life.
How the SMARTBAND Multi-Band Ligation System works
The SMARTBAND Multi-Band Ligation System may be used for GI bleed management to treat acute bleeding from esophageal varices or for the prophylactic treatment of esophageal varices. The SMARTBAND Multi-Band Ligation Kit consists of a ligation handle with a universal connector, loading device, Pentax adaptor, and barrel with six bands.
When setting up the endoscopic ligating device, the deployment cord is first passed through the endoscope's working channel using the PermaCoil loading device and then assembled to the ligation handle. The slack is taken out of the deployment cord, and the barrel is fitted to the end of the endoscope. Once completed, the endoscopic ligating device is ready for use in procedures.
The SMARTBAND Multi-Band Ligation Pack is used when additional ligator bands are needed during a band ligation procedure. After the single-use band ligator has already been set up on the endoscope, the empty barrel and deployment thread are removed. Then, to set up the SMARTBAND Multi-Band Ligation Pack, the deployment cord is passed through the endoscope's working channel using the PermaCoil loading device and then assembled to the SMARTBAND Ligation handle. Once complete, the SMARTBAND Multi-Band Ligation System is ready for further band ligation.
