Product Overview
VERIFY Dual Species Self-Contained Biological Indicators (SCBIs) are for use in monitoring steam sterilization and ethylene oxide (EO) sterilization processes. The VERIFY Dual Species Self-Contained BI is designed to be sealed after processing, reducing the risk of contamination or growth medium evaporation. The vial label also contains a process indicator for steam and EO sterilization processes, verifying contact with sterilant.
How VERIFY Dual Species Self-Contained Biological Indicators Work
Each SCBI is completely self-contained within a vial and contains a disc inoculated with dual species bacterial spores (Geobacillus stearothermophilus and Bacillus atrophaeus) and an ampoule of specially formulated soybean casein digest growth medium with a pH indicator.
Following incubation, a vivid color change from blue/purple to yellow and/or vial becoming turbid gives evidence of microbial growth. If no microbial growth occurs, the vial remains blue and without turbidity. A 24-hour incubation time has been validated for steam sterilization and a 48-hour incubation time has been validated for EO.
