The CO2MPACT Endoscopic Insufflator system accepts central supply of CO2 making it a lower-cost option for CO2 insufflation. CO2 is an inert gas that can provide a better safety profile than air and reduced patient risk during procedures when electro-cautery is used.
How the CO2MPACT Endoscopic Insufflator System Works
The CO2MPACT Endoscopic Insufflator System is designed to use CO2 as a distention media in the gastrointestinal (GI) tract when used in conjunction with a gastrointestinal endoscope. The endoscopy CO2 insufflator operates by administering CO2 at a selectable flow of 2.0 (low) liters per minute (LPM), 2.9 (medium) LPM or 3.4 (high) LPM nominally. The flow rate is selected by the operator by using a button found on the front panel to select Low, Medium, and High.
The clinician will use the air/water valve on the endoscope and visual feedback of the endoscopic system to manually distend the GI tract with CO2. The insufflator system operates in an identical manner to that of the air pump of an endoscopic system.
The CO2MPACT Endoscopic Insufflator System’s variable flow rate and timer features can be used to help manage the amount of CO2 being used during the procedures helping to reduce the number of insufflator tanks required, thereby reducing the need for tank changes as well as improving cost efficiency by reducing the amount of CO2 being used.
